It takes a lot of courage in kindergarten to walk up to someone and ask, “Do you want to be friends?” But sometimes those little risks lead to big rewards — like a lifelong friendship. Thankfully, our kids were brave enough to make that move. Their friendship led to the introductions that organized their first sleepover… and that’s how we met. Little did our boys know they were growing the roots of two lifelong friendships that year.
Over time, our extended families have grown close too. We’ve shared stories of our hometowns, compared upper Midwest and southern cultures, and cheered for — and against — our favorite teams. We’ve celebrated birthdays, coached teams, toasted wins, and weathered losses together. Through it all, we learned what made us who we are today and created a few new traditions of our own.
So, when life lined up the opportunity for us to go into business together, it felt natural. Out of those years of shared experiences, Rooted State was born — a celebration of the people, places, and moments that shape us.
